Art Education Program
"He that bestows his goods upon the poor shall have as much again....and ten times more"
John Bunyan
In memory of Daniel and the way he lived his life and his love of the arts, the Daniel Robert Lynch Art Education Program has been initiated. This program has been established to identify those students within the school system who possess artistic talent and have the desire to pursue a career in the arts but have deficiencies in social or academic subjects needed to establish a grade point average to qualify for college acceptance into an accredited college or university. This program will work with the school counselor and art teacher to identify these students at the earliest point of their high school education and offer tutoring/mentoring or other recommended help to round out the student’s scholastic and art education. This could include special extra curricular studies in art techniques, etc. A student may qualify at any level within the system.
Additionally, help will be available in the support of field trips to art galleries and museums, art clubs, or other areas which will provide the students with opportunity in art appreciation.
This program will also assist the students and teachers by providing art supplies for art education and will provide funding for visiting artists to assist students in learning and art appreciation.
Scholarships will be made available to disadvantaged students who qualify through application, meeting all the requirements provided for the Daniel Robert Lynch Art Education Program. With today’s mounting costs for education, many students find it difficult or impossible to finance their education. Many students cannot for one reason or another get the money needed from their family. It should not be the case that only the well to do can provide for an education.
In many school systems, art programs and classes are being minimized or deleted because of budget cuts. It is strongly felt that art programs should be expanded with more emphasis put on art appreciation. Society will be much stronger when students have a real appreciation in the arts.
The Daniel Robert Lynch Art Education Program will be available to all nationalities, religious and economic groups, etc. and in no way will be discriminatory for any student.
